Board Message for 2020

With a new year and the beginning of a decade in our grasp, Tweed Horticultural Society’s Board members are full of enthusiasm.  We don’t know what we will face but we do know that it is wise to be prepared for and ready to accept change.  Paving the way for 2020 and beyond, our collaborative Board is determined to learn and work together to benefit both membership and the broader Tweed community.  --- And we need all of you to help us make a difference!  We look forward to your presence, your ideas, your encouragement and your contributions to the many facets of our work.  Our meetings, our plant sale and our town planters & garden beds are all enriched by your willingness to share both time and energy.  Whatever task you perform, no matter how large or small, is appreciated!

Our 2020 program is a treasure box packed full of stimulating events.  Inspirational speakers at our monthly meetings will share a wealth of information about flowering perennials, creatures who visit our gardens, spring garden planning, vegetable growing, food harvest from the wild, and so much more.  There is something of interest to all!  The diversity of activities planned provides opportunities for everyone to participate in ways that are personally gratifying as well as supportive of our community.  You can contribute plants to the plant sale on the long week end in May; you can submit entries to the Tweed Fair; you can help to maintain the gardens that add beauty to our wonderful community; you can enjoy trips in the company of friends and fellow gardeners; you can judge scarecrows; you can build a house for bees or watch butterflies transition from egg to adult.  --- Or perhaps you would like to assist with a workshop that would engage our young people in the realm of horticulture and encourage them to incorporate gardening into their daily activities.

2020 is full of hope, and promises to be an exciting year which reflects our entry into a new decade.  Our future is overflowing with possibilities.  Together, we can use our energy and skills to develop lasting friendships, to broaden our expertise and to nurture gardens that will warm the hearts of humans while sharing sweet nectar with butterflies.  Let us embrace the challenge of making Tweed a richer, more vibrant and more welcoming community for ALL!

The Tweed Horticultural Society and the town of Tweed shared costs to pave the gravel walkways at Moira Gardens. Now it's an easier, more comfortable stroll around the Gardens. Check out the site just across from Tim Hortons. Buy a coffee, stroll across the street and relax in our beautiful garden.
