Foraging
Helene Darisse is a local amateur herbalist who started her journey in 1970 learning about applying the centuries old knowledge of foraging herbs growing in our backyards and using them for homemade remedies for various aches, pains and minor illnesses.

Carson Arthur: Food Insecurity
Carson Arthur, owner of Carson’s Garden and Market and host of Take It Outside with Carson Arthur on CJBQ, will do a talk on the importance of growing food for the community. He will discuss changes in Canadian agriculture, the changing climate and the importance of sustainability. Admission is free but we ask you to bring a donation for the food bank or to give a cash donation,
Please note: the special talk will be at the Agricultural/White building at the fair grounds in Tweed at 7 pm. Make sure to tell your friends.

Seed Planting
Laura Moses, a double certified horticulturist with over 18 years experience and founder of Fine Lines Landscapes and Design will walk us through the methods of planting seeds.

Garden Flower Trends for 2026
Roseanne Ballast from Stonepath Greenhouse will walk us through this year’s garden planting trends. Let’s get ready for the new colours and plant introductions.
June 2
Miyawaki Forest
Lise Bois will introduce us to the Miyawaki method of restoring natural vegetation in degraded land by planting native species in a dense, multi layered manner. She has been involved in the Miyawaki mini forest project in Ameliasburgh and will explain how it has evolved.

Tweed Fair

August 4
Pot Luck Supper – 6 pm
Members and partners only event. Come and enjoy a garden supper. Location to be announced at a later date. Remember to bring your pot luck main dish, dessert, cup, plate and utensils.
September 1
Climate Change and Gardening
Karen Broadhurst will do a presentation on the impact climate change is having on our region. She will address climate change predictions and discuss strategies for preparing for and mitigating these impacts.
October 6
Cooking Demo with Nadine
Nadine Campeau, the dietitian from Gateway Community Health Centre, will do a cooking demonstration using pumpkins and squash. Bring in samples of the squash you have grown in your garden for viewing and sharing your growing methods and yields.
November 3
Grapevine Wreath Workshop
Savannah VanNiedek will walk us through making a grapevine wreath which can be themed for Christmas or seasonal. Bring your garden snips and any supplies you may have to add. The grapevines will be supplied.
December 1
Pot Luck Christmas Dinner – 6 pm
Come enjoy an evening with fellow members to celebrate the end of another gardening year. A slide show of the year’s events and gardens will be shown and we’ll play our quarter frenzy game. Bring your favourite pot luck dish, dessert item, plate, utensils and drinking glass. This dinner is open to members and partners only. Donations for the frenzy table welcome.
